State-Level Ghoomar Dance Competition Celebrates Rajasthani Culture
Over 500 dancers from across Rajasthan participated in the annual state-level Ghoomar dance competition held at Ravindra Manch in Jaipur.
Competition Highlights
Teams representing all 33 districts showcased their skills in this traditional Rajasthani folk dance. The Jodhpur team won first place, followed by Udaipur and Jaipur in second and third positions respectively.
Cultural Preservation
The event, organized by the Department of Art and Culture, aims to preserve and promote traditional Rajasthani performing arts among younger generations. Special categories for school and college students saw enthusiastic participation.
Guest Appearances
Padma Shri awardee folk artist Gulabo Sapera performed a special presentation, inspiring young dancers with her legendary Kalbelia dance.
Tourism Minister Gayatri Rathore announced plans to include folk dance performances as regular features at tourist destinations.
