Bikaner to Host Rajasthan's Largest Solar Power Plant

Bikaner district is set to become home to Rajasthan’s largest solar power plant, with the state government announcing a massive 500 MW project in the Thar Desert region.

Project Details

The solar park will be spread across 2,500 acres of desert land near Kolayat. The project, estimated at Rs 3,000 crore, is expected to generate employment for over 5,000 workers during construction.

Energy Minister Bhanwar Singh stated that this project aligns with Rajasthan’s commitment to becoming a leader in renewable energy production.

Environmental Impact

Once operational, the plant will reduce carbon emissions by approximately 600,000 tonnes annually. The project includes plans for minimal environmental disruption to the desert ecosystem.

Local communities will benefit from improved electricity access and infrastructure development in the region.
